John Axford, Milwaukee Brewers Pitcher

Axford and his mustache

Continuing the American Mustache Institute’s award-winning interview series, AMI chairman Dr. Aaron Perlut recently spoke with Milwaukee Brewers closer John Axford.

Axford, who you can find on Facebook and on Twitter, is tearing through National League hitters with the Brewers in first place in the NL Central and is expected to be a top contender for the Robert Goulet Memorial Mustached American of the Year in 2011.

So it was natural that AMI deemed him worthy of the AMI Mustache Interview.

The two Mustached American leaders — Dr. Perlut and Axford — sat in the visitors dugout at Busch Stadium in St. Louis and discussed a range of topics. From Communism to Justin Bieber to to what Axford’s mustache thought of his team’s acquisition of Francisco Rodgriguez to the worthless jaw cushion of Pirates closer Joel Hanrahan — nothing was off limits.

I really don’t want to cause Axford to be disqualified or anything (I am a Brewers fan), but can a Canadian win the Goulet?

Read the article, then watched to clip. Maybe I shld have kept my fingers still.
