Lauren Jacobs and Her Evil Mustache Fight MS

On March 10, 2013, by AMI Staff

Lauren Jacobs of Houston used to do what a lot of women do in their 20s — bartend, run 5Ks, hook up with random Mustached Americans, bid on nail guns in silent auctions, and the list goes on.Screen Shot 2013-03-10 at 10.13.09 AM

Then, at age 25 her life changed dramatically when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). She decided to shift her focus to raising funds for, and awareness about MS.   Hence, she created “The Evil Mustache Gives Back: Beautiful Beards and Mustaches” — a facial hair-fueled fundraising event to be held April 6 at Big Johns Ice House in Houston.

“I got the idea when my friend Jasmine and I were discussing our love of bearded men,” Lauren says. “So, I decided we should just do it. Find some people with experience in judging, learn the rules and go all in.”

In essence it’ll be a charitable party centered around mustache and beard competitions with all of the proceeds going directly to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

“We are facial hair enthusiasts, and my friends and I are just trying to help find a cure in a fun way,” Lauren adds.

The event kicks off at 8p.m. April 6 but  contestants are asked to arrive no later than 7:30 to so they can be photographed for contest screens. For more information, contact Lauren via the Evil Mustache Facebook page.

You’re welcome.
