We all have simple pleasures in life. For me, I love accidentally parking in front of an inoperable parking meter, getting out with change in hand, only to find its not needed. Or what about sitting on the couch and watching re-runs of 1980s sitcom ALF? Of course, there's always hating on Dave Navarro, looking at photos of Linda
Carter in her Wonder Woman garb, or even watching a troll maul a defenseless stray cat.
But the other night, watching the vice presidential debate from Washington University in St. Louis was both pure joy and painful at the same time. We have some serious issues in America right now and we are all feeling it - the economy is struggling, Wall Street is in chaos, there is consideration of re-instituting the Federal Mustache Tax Amendment (FMTA) to make up some of our national deficit, healthcare is screwed up, and I could go on.
But instead of focusing on these issues - which at times was the case during the debate - we were treated to an entertaining show. Hearing Joe Biden refer to himself in the third person more than three times was a treat.Watching Sarah Palin attempt to piece together cohesive, relevant responses to challenging questions about foreign policy was simply great.
So sure, we are in chaos. And yes, the people who just might be making decisions to save us from this chaotic period are either utterly self-absorbed (is that right Marty?) or infinitely stupid -- but at least O.J.'s finally getting his due!
Carry on.
